Arts Award

I have been the Visiting Artist at Alvechurch Middle School where a group of pupils from Years 5 and 6 were involved with an Arts Award course.
The first activity introduced the children to the work of the artist Wassily Kandinsky, and the move towards abstraction in painting. They listened to various pieces of music then interpreted what they had heard in line, shape, and colour. Their paintings were constructed into vibrant, lively and colourful collaborative artworks.
I showed my ceramic work and discussed it with the pupils. They interviewed me and wrote about the work and they were then inspired to create a piece of work investigating similar themes of texture and pattern.
